by John Buckner Little, Professor in Chemistry at the University of Alabama
Cincinnati, Ohio: Elm Street Printing, 1885; 1st edition; with 256 pages including a good index (making the book very useful to genealogists & family historians). Includes 12 illustrations (including frontispiece engraving of the author + a LIGHTLY TINTED folding map at the rear of the book.

CONDITION (IMPORTANT . . . PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):
BOOK IS LIGHTLY EX-LIBRARY but with absolutely NO OUTSIDE MARKS on the spine or on the text block & with no LIBRARY card pocket at the rear of the book; plus the book itself is professionally rebacked (one can hardly see the rebacking), with front inner hinge just starting to crack (it's holding on really well); FOLDING MAP is Fair only but BASICALLY complete but with a fair number of mostly short splits at various folds. There is a SMALL 3/4 inch by 1 1/2 inch piece missing from the LOWER RIGHT HAND side of the map. BUT . . . this is the ONLY COPY I've ever seen with the original folding map (and I've seen 5 copies over the last 45 years of Alabama bookselling) I would suggest taking the folding map out of its PLAIN pocket at rear of the book and then, without trying to unfold it yourself {though I'm pretty sure you will :-} take it to an expert art framer who will be able to lay it down flat and pull the "splits" together before putting it in a nice frame.
