Tales to Astonish 27 is one of the rarest of the early Silver Age Marvel keys. With a measly 1000 copies in total across all labels graded by CGC. Compare that to Amazing Fantasy 15 with 3200 copies graded by CGC across all labels and TTA 27 is over 3 times rarer.

This is one of 4 copies in the world graded at CGC 9.4. 2 are universal blue label and are probably $500,000.00 books if either copy was to come to market. The other restored copy is a professional restoration that I am in aware of the extent of the restoration on that particular book. Being a professional restoration it would be reasonable to assume that it had its cover cleaned small pieces added and color touch. This would be a standard professional restoration process. This book has only a very small amount of amateur color touch nothing else. I have included pictures of the inside of the cover from before this book went to CGC so that you can see just how minor the color touch is. My personal opinion is that the color touch happened in the 70’s or 80’s at a time when collectors would do that type of thing to make the books look a bit better. My opinion is the book might still grade a 9.4 if the color touch was not there. This structurally could be the nicest example of this book in the world. I would love to be able to compare it to the other three 9.4’s in existence.

For Raw comics I ship using Gemini Mailers with extra cardboard for additional protection. I also write “Do Not Bend or Drop Fragile” on both sides of the Gemini Mailer

For CGC graded comics I use a 1095 USPS Priority box with extra cardboard and or styrofoam reinforcing and bubble wrap.
