This picture burned in the California "Camp Fire" and is no longer available for sale. I have left it up to be viewed for a little while longer.Very unusual rare original photo from the early 1900's of what looks like the inside of a frat house. Skull and Bones sitting on top of what looks like a very irregularly cut piece of skin or leather. I'm not familiarwith the symbolism of the various statues and faces hanging on the walls although they are likely Greek. That being said, it's still a very interesting conversational piece.
The only "Delta Epsilon" I found that goes back to the date this photo would have been taken is the one at the University of Maryland outside of Washington DC. This location was just one of the Phi Delta Epsilon locations originally founded at Weill Cornell Medicine, a medical branch of Ivy LeagueCornell University In October 1904 by Dr. Aaron Brown. This fraternity was started by Brown and some of his friends in responseto American medical schools quota limiting admission of Jewish students into medical fraternities.. You can read more about this fraternity online if you wish. The seal that is stamped in the lower right corner is hard to make out but it seems to say Genfritz BALTO. Balto is sometimes an abbreviationused for BaltimoreMaryland. This would likely place this photos origination in the Baltimore area just outside Washington DC. The size of the photo is 9 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches. There is a light scratch that runs along the face of the upper right corner. See images for more detail on this. It's not very noticeablebut it is there. Awesome piece for someone that likes to collect fraternal or medical history.
