Herschede Hall Clock #106, The Christopher Columbus, Nine-Tube Moondial, 1975, Mississippi, original owner, brochure, manual.The dial is hand engraved, pierced and has GOLD plated face plate. Raised black numerals against a silvered dial circle. Dial also features a small second hand.
The movement is made by Herschede and has the traditional moon dial. Chimes are played on tubular bells every fifteen minutes plus counting out the hours each hour on single strike tubular bells. This movement features three melodies, Westminster, Whittington, and *Canterbury. A switch on the dial allows you to change the melody, also a 2nd switch to silence the chime and strike if desired. Pendulum bob and weight shells are of quality brass and lacquered to preserve appearance. Tubular bell tubes are of brass. * Only available on a Herschede made clock.86 ½”H, 24”W, 15 1/8” D

The Christopher Columbus was perhaps the most unique style of all Herschede Hall Clocks; reason being is of the base design. It stands stately and decorative in the home. Fine precious Appalachian Cherry Wood was used to make this cabinet which produces a beautiful contrast of finish and book matched wood. Beveled glass surrounds all three sides which allows for view of full size chime tubes made of finely polished nickel-plated brass or golden washed. This adds immeasurably to the beauty of the clock. Dial is delicately hand pierced and hand engraved. 9 tube, with full lyre pendulum and triple chime movement. Available in both light and dark Cherry Wood and nickel chrome-plated or golden washed chime tubes. This clock speaks in cathedral tones and is the central attention of the home."
