Presented here is one of the rarest Soviet state security insignia ever documented — an original OGPU (Joint State Political Directorate) Dzerzhinsky enamel badge, identified as one of ONLY SIX KNOWN EXAMPLES WORLDWIDE.
This piece represents a foundational relic of early Soviet intelligence history and is widely regarded as a museum-tier object, suitable for national archives, major collections, or institutional display.

The design centers around a scarlet enameled five-pointed star with the raised profile of Felix Dzerzhinsky, architect of the Soviet security apparatus. Behind the star lies a deep blue enameled shield encircled by a green-enameled industrial gear, symbolizing the union of state power, industry, and revolutionary vigilance.

Above the composition, a brilliant red banner carries the inscription OGPU, supported by a sword and a wreath of laurel and oak leaves — each element carefully enameled and meticulously hand-finished.
This badge is constructed with the original screwback, a hallmark of early-uniform security pieces, and is marked on the reverse, confirming period authenticity.

Such OGPU insignia were produced in extremely low quantities, with the vast majority destroyed, archived, or retained within early security institutions. Fewer than ten examples have ever surfaced in private collections, and only six complete original pieces are known to exist today.
