LBJ’s time in the White House was spent fighting a two-front war – internationally he oversaw the escalating war in Vietnam while domestically he declared “War on Poverty,” and helped pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as part of his “Great Society” program. This document was signed by President Johnson in 1967 and appoints a commissioner to the Indian Claims Commission which was created to mitigate historical claims of Native American tribes against the United States. The appointment document has been matted along with a print of a painted portrait of the 36th president and an engraved plaque listing his achievements. The complete framed display measures 29” x 42.5” and comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA.
