This is an amazing sweetmeat / bonbon dish. It is the works by the Viennese artist Hermann Bohn (active 1845–1894), to whom the object can be attributed (hallmarked with a block letter B, but I can not make out the H). The dish features fabulous enamel work over 800/900 silver with a gold gilt. The subject is of Diana the Huntress with her two dogs. The dish feature natural rubies emeralds sapphires amethysts and pearls. Diana is standing on a pave emerald botanical leaf. Her dress is studded with sapphires and rubies. She is holding the leash of her two dogs with is embellished with amethyst beads. The dogs feature a pave coat of rubies with ruby eyes. The dogs are perched on elaborate handles of silver gilt embellished with emeralds and pearls. The rim of the bow features fresh water pearls and additional emeralds. The rim surrounds and protects the fine hand carved moss agate bowl. The base features wonderful enamel work and a flaired base. The base rim is hallmarked . This bowl is accompanied with its original leather box. It dates from the 1860-80s. This piece is to drool over and presented in excellent condition. I do not see any missing stones, pearls or damage to the enamel. The box does show signs of wear, but closes and protect this valuable dish well.
