Vintage clipped signatures by Fritz Rumpelhardt & Wilhelm Gänsler affixed to an 8.5x11 presentation page with photos of them receiving the Knight's Cross. Excellent condition.
(1919-1985) Wilhelm Gänsler was a highly decorated Oberfeldwebel in the Luftwaffe during World War II, a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. This decoration recognised extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. During his career, Gänsler participated in 115 missions as a flight engineer or aerial gunner, some with Karl-Heinz Becker. He participated in 98 of Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer's victories. He received the Knight's Cross after 80 aerial victories participations and was recommended for the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves on 8 March 1945.
(1920-2011) Friedrich "Fritz" Rumpelhardt was a highly decorated Leutnant in the Luftwaffe during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (German language: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
During his career, he participated in 130 missions as a Bordfunker (radio/radar operator) with Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 and Nachtjagdgeschwader 4, and participated in 100 aerial victories as a crewman with Major Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer from October 1942 (as a Unteroffizier) until the end of the war. He was the most successful radar operator—in terms of aerial victories claimed—in the Luftwaffe night fighter force.
