A near set holding 46 of 50 cards is presented. Each card has been graded by PSA. With its 4.03 GPA, this assembly merits "#2 Current Finest" placement on the PSA Set Registry! These scarcer, insert showpieces saw their original distribution only in premium-sized, expensive measures of Duke's products. The sought-after N114 release, featuring general officers from opposing combatants in the U.S. Civil War, employs pictures shared with Duke's N78 "Histories of Generals" booklets on one side of a 2-9/16" x 4-1/4" card with a condensation of each leader's fascinating text on the other. Each of the cards' backs displays the subject general's name at the top. This is followed by biographical text (taken from the 16 interior pages of the corresponding N78 booklet) in a neat, condensed form that covers nearly the entirety of the cardback surface; the lithographer's name, Knapp & Co. of New York, appears at the bottom edge. (It's interesting to note, also, that some of the officers pictured were still living at the time of these items' creation.) Missing Bragg, Buell, Early, and Morgan for completion. The assembly includes 13 cards that enjoy "None Graded Higher" distinction, including six subjects that are "Pop 1" examples.
