The pen comes with all original boxes and stamped papers (large display box, illustrated outer box, white cardboard outer box, duly stamped certificate, papers). It was purchased in May 2017 at MB Boutique Printemps, Paris, France. It has never been used nor inked (still with plastic film around the section).

Scipione Borghese, Art patron with an expert eye

He is considered to be one of the greatest and most influential lovers, patrons and collectors of Roman baroque art: Scipione Borghese.

His uncle, Camillo Borghese, elected Pope Paul V in 1605, made him a cardinal and head of the Vatican's governmental affairs. As patron to many artists, such as the sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini and the painter Caravaggio, he paved their way to world fame.

Their works formed the initial collection of the Galleria Borghese, which the cardinal, with his keen understanding of art, opened to international audiences.

The decor and masterpieces of the Galleria Borghese serve as inspiration for the Patron of Art Homage to Scipione Borghese Limited Edition 888. The dark-green marble on the cap and cone, together with the skeletonised casing made of Au 750 red gold, reflect the design of the marble interior and floors of the gallery. The details and barrel feature antique motifs of the famous Borghese Vase. The artistically crafted clip with its smoky quartz is reminiscent of the branches of the colossal pine trees in the park at Villa Borghese.

The cap top, crowned with the Montblanc emblem in mother-of-pearl, is shaped like a cardinal's hat - while the cone is adorned with a coin made from Au 750 gold engraved with a portrait of Borghese. The handmade nib of Au 750 gold is enriched with an engraving of the family coat of arms of the great Roman patron and collector of art, Scipione Borghese.
