From an old clockmakers workshop clearance...

This handsome clock was made Mid C20th as an anniversary for a period Daniel Quare Clock

Made by English Clockmakers Elliott and retailed by the Crown Jewellers Garrard

The figured burr walnut case with inverted bell top in the period style.

Top brass pierced handle is a design with monogram of Daniel Quare's initials.

Pierced sound frets allow the tunes from the Bells to emanate.

Glazed side apertures allow a view of the substantial clock movement inside.

The movement is a triple fusee of a MONTH DURATION chiming the quarters on a nest of tuned 8 Bells and the hours are struck on a larger NINTH BELL

The movement has the benefit of Elliotts automatic night silence - where all chiming is silenced from 11.00pm until 7.00am the next morning.

Chiming can be turned off permanently via. the subsidiary dial switch.

There is also regulation of timekeeping from front of dial also.

A choice of WESTMINSTER, WHITTINGTON and WINCHESTER chiming tunes are available.

The brass dial with gilded spandrels, silvered chapter rings and pierced hands to show the time.

Comes with an original T-Bar winding key for your monthly windings.

The movement with gentle, almost silent tick from the Jewelled Platform Lever Escapement.

These clocks were made as a limited edition of 250 clocks, this one is No. 174

On the engraved decorated back plate.

This is truely an easy to live with clock and certainly a conversation piece!
