Cleopatra chandelier by H. Petitot

Alarge French1933 art decochandelier innickeledbrass orbronzeby the famousParis based companyof Hubert Petitot holdingthree slip shades andthree side-shades. These shadeswere produced for Petitot by the Muller freres glass factories. This model is referred to as "Cleopatra" in the old catalogs. The bronze maker Alexandre Petitot started his company in 1878. His son Hubert took over in 1917. The Paris based company of Petitot was a wholesale sellingits lamps to lightingshops all over France Europe and the States. Together with Hettier & VincentPetitot became the largest producer of French art deco lighting in the late 20s and early 30s. Petitot produced precious fixtures in high quality bronze with shades from the best French glass manufacturers.

TheCleopatrashades are made ofthick frosted pressed glass. These horizontal and vertical ribbed shades are frosted on both in and outside. The side-shades aresigned petitot.The mounting is marked with the usual Petitot initials AP for Alexandre Petitot.

The chandelier has a drop of84cm(33.07")anda diameter ofabout 61cm (some 24 inches).Itis inexcellentcondition. I re-nickeled the fixture.The version with 4 slip shades is represented in the 1933 Petitot catalog. This larger version can be found in one of my other ads.

The chandelieris newly wired.It holdsthree American standard sockets andthreeAmericancandelabra baseones. For European countries I will place E27 and E14 sockets.
