It's offered to your attention the high-fidelity copy of the rocket that carried the world's first cosmonaut Yury Gagarin. This huge museum-quality model of the Soviet rocket "Vostok", scaled 1:20 and made of mostly thin cardboard, as well as wood and metal, has been produced in Moscow by Tushino Machine-Building Plant "Salyut" - the real manufacturer of the Soviet space shuttle "Buran".

About the rocket. On April 12, 1961, the rocket "Vostok" became famous due to the launch of the first man into space. The first six Soviet cosmonauts, including Yury Gagarin, performed their heroic missions on this rocket. The program "Vostok" triumphantly ended in 1963 with the first female-flown mission, by Valentina Tereshkova.

Design features. The model is constructed of wood, metal, dense thin cardboard and other materials. The rocket has a hollow interior. The model cannot be disassembled. It is packed in a box of plywood. The model is highly detailed. There are technological inscriptions on it near the hatches and maintenance operation points. There are no any moving or removable parts on the rocket.

Provenance. This model was made in the 1990s at the Tushino Machine-Building Plant "Salyut" and was used for display at various space exhibitions. In 2015, the factory decayed and ceased its activities. For an extended period, the model was stored at the plant in an unheated room and subsequently suffered corrosive damage to some elements. In 2016, it has been aquired from the retired engineer of the plant "Salyut", cleaned and professionally restored.

Scale - 1:20.

Height - 80" (2.03 m) with the stand, or 76" (1.92 m) without stand.

Material - dense thin cardboard, wood and metal, other materials.

CONDITION. The model is in an excellent condition, it does not require restoration and can be used at exhibitions, or featured at home, in an office or in a museum.
