RegimentHistory:

The101stRegiment of Foot (Royal Bengal Fusiliers)wasan infantry regimentofthe East India Companyand British Armythat existed from1652 to 1881. The regiment was raised in Indiain1652 by the East India Company as the company's first non-nativeinfantry regiment. Over the following two centuries, the regiment wasinvolved in nearly all of the East India Company's conflicts whichconsolidated British rule over India. The Royal Bengal Fusiliers wastransferred to the command of the British Army in 1862 following theIndian Mutiny of 1957 and the end of Company rule in India. Under theChilders Reformsit amalgamated with the 104thRegiment of Foot (Bengal Fusiliers)to form the Royal MunsterFusiliersin 1881.
