This is a beautiful golden butterfly made by Emilia Castillo. It is made of tumbago, which is a mixture of pure gold and copper like the old Mayans used to make. No one works with these metals anymore because they are too expensive to use. This is one of the kind piece that I had made for me. I have many one-of-a-kind pieces from Emilia Castillo. This is the prettiest in my collection. Beautiful necklace full of circles with the butterfly attached in the middle. Usually older necklaces are too small for my neck so I had my jeweler install an extender. This necklace measures 18 inches to 21 inches. The tumbago is super bright yet golden. It takes a skilled artist to work with tumbago. The butterfly can actually be worn as a large brooch if you take it off the necklace. I have only worn it once or twice. the necklace is hard to put a price on. it's a one of a kind.
